What architecture does eRS resource scheduling software follow?

A

eRS resource scheduling software is a client and server application. Software is installed on the client machine and the database (MS SQL server 2005 or higher) is installed on the server machine. The software communicates with the database over a network (WAN, LAN, VPN). Note: In a single user environment the same machine can be used as a client and a server machine. eResource Scheduler is a single user or multi-user application?

A

eResource Scheduler is a multi-user network based application. Multiple users can simultaneously login and be connected to the database to share information in real-time. For more information visit Technical Information page.

What type of database is used by your resource management software?

A

eRS resource management software uses MS SQL Server 2005 or higher database.

Q

What do we do if we don’t have MS SQL Server 2005 or higher installed on our server machine?

A

Don't worry if you don't have MS SQL Server 2005 or higher. MS SQL Server 2005 Express version is included in ‘eResource Scheduler Setup’.

What are the minimum hardware and software requirements to run eRS resource planning software?

Is eRS resource planner compatible with 64 bit machines?

A

Yes, eRS resource planner is compatible with both 32 bit and 64 bit machines.

How do you provide system upgrades?

A

In a client and server application there can be upgrades to application, database or both. We handle these as follows.


Application Upgrade: There is an auto update setting in eResource Scheduler (Admin Tab / Updates Section), if auto updates have been turned on, then the system automatically checks for new updates when connected to the internet. If a new update is available then it will ask the user if it should download and install the update.


Database Upgrade: If database needs to be upgraded, application shows a warning at the time of login. Users with administrative rights can upgrade the database from 'Updates' section in 'Admin' tab.

I am a single user, do I still need a network, server etc? Can I not just install both database and software on my computer?

A

If only one (single) user needs to use eResource Scheduler application, then both 'database' and 'software' can be installed on the same machine, hence eliminating the need for a separate server machine and network. While installation, select 'Full Installation' when asked to select installation type.

I have changed the name of server machine and now eRS resource planning program is not working, what do I do?

A

You need to create a new 'Config.xml' file so that the application is pointed towards the correct server and database. For this you need to run the 'ConfigApplication' found in C:\Program Files\eResource Scheduler. This will create a new config file that will point the application towards the renamed server and eResource Scheduler database. Watch related training video.

eRS resource planner is a web based application or windows based application?

A

eRS resource planner is windows based application. It is not a web based application.

Can eRS resource scheduler run on Mac?

A

eRS resource scheduler is not compatible with Mac.

How often should we take the database backup?

A

Frequency of backup will depend on your data administration policy and the amount to data being created. In any condition, we strongly suggest that database backup be taken at least on a daily basis. Also, we strongly suggest that backup be taken immediately before database is upgraded or migrated to another server.

Can our firewall program prevent the application installed on the client machine from communicating with eResource Scheduler database installed on server machine?

A

Yes, by default, windows firewall on server machine prevents inbound connections from client machines to connect to SQL Server and SQL Browser Service. To prevent this from happening, follow these steps:
1. Make sure that SQL Browser Service is running. See training video Turn on SQL Browser Service.
2. Create firewall exception for SQL Server and SQL Browser Service. See training video Create firewall exception for SQL Server and SQL Browser Service.

I get 'Could not connect to database' message when I enter server details after running eResource Scheduler application for the first time.

A

This message is displayed when eResource Scheduler application is not able to connect to MS SQL Server. Please ensure the following:
1. MS SQL Server is properly installed on server machine.
2. SQL Browser Service is running. See tutorial Turn on SQL Browser Service.
3. Ensure that firewall exceptions for SQL Server and SQL Browser Service have been added. See training video Create firewall exception for SQL Server and SQL Browser Service.
4. Ensure that client machine is properly connected to the server machine through a network. If you still encounter this issue then kindly contact us on ers@enbraun.com.

Can we get refund if eRS resource scheduling software does not fulfill our requirements?

A

We believe in 'Try before you buy' policy and provide fully functional 14 day free trial of eResource Scheduler. Therefore, when someone buys our software, we assume that they are satisfied with software features and functionalities. Due to this reason we follow 'No Refund Policy'. Our policies can be accessed on our website.

What is licensing structure of eRS resource scheduling software?

A

We follow 'concurrent users' licensing structure. That means, if you have five licenses then five users can simultaneously use the system at any given time. Visit Licensing of eRS resource scheduler for more information.

What are the different types of licenses?

A

We have two types of licenses:
1. Annual License: Annual licenses are valid for a period of 365 days from the date of activation, they have to be renewed annually.
2. Permanent license: Permanent licenses have to be bought just once. They don’t have to be renewed as they are issued for a period of 99 years.

Can we convert annual license to permanent license?

A

There is nothing like 'converting' annual licenses to permanent licenses. Best way to move from annual to permanent licenses is, not to renew your annual licenses when they expire, instead buy permanent licenses. For additional help kindly contact our sales team.

Do we need to pay AMC (annual maintenance) fee after buying eResource scheduler?

A

As part of AMC we provide support, fixes and upgrades. As far as AMC fee goes, we have 2 conditions.
- Annual license holders do not have to pay any additional amount for AMC (support and maintenance). AMC is included as part of their annual license fee.
- Permanent license holders have to pay 15% of total license fee as AMC. This AMC is charged annually in advance and is annually adjusted according to CPI (consumer price index).

What are the different modes of payment?

A

You can pay us by using any of the following 3 methods.
1. Payment against an invoice via bank transfer (account and transfer details are provided along with the invoice).
2. Payment against an invoice, post / courier a bank cheque in favor of 'ENBRAUN' on the address provided in the invoice.

I have made the payment to purchase licenses, but have not received anything, what should I do?

A

Kindly inform us once you have made the payment. We will track it on our end and will issue the license key and payment receipt as soon as we receive your payment. Depending on the payment method, it may take few days for the payment to be credited into our bank account.

How would I know the number of licenses I require? Is there a standard formula?

A

eRS resource management tool follows 'concurrent user' licensing model. This means that a fixed number of users (depending on the number of licenses you have purchased) can login to the software simultaneously at any given time. This licensing model is very efficient, as you don't have to buy a dedicated license for every user that will be using the system. In practice, not all users are using the software at the same time. In fact, as a thumb rule only 40% - 50% of users are using the software at any given time. So if 100 users need to use the system, then you should buy approx. 40 licenses. Can we purchase additional licenses of eRS resource planner on top of the ones we already have?

A

Yes, you can always purchase additional licenses.

Q

Can permanent and annual license be used together / simultaneously?

A

Yes, permanent and annual licenses can be used simultaneously. Let's understand this with an example.
E.g. You buy and activate 10 permanent licenses on 1st January 2011. Then you buy and activate 20 annual licenses on 1st July 2011. This implies that 10 users can simultaneously login to the system between 1st Jan 2011 and 30th June 2011. Then 30 (10 + 20) users can simultaneously login to the system between 1st July 2011 and 30th June 2012. If you choose not to renew your annual licenses on 1st July 2012, then again only 10 users will be able to simultaneously login from 1st July 2012.

What do we do when the licenses expire?

A

Once the licenses have expired, new license key needs to applied and activated. New license key will be e-mailed as soon as the payment is processed.

How many licenses are issued for the free trial of eRS resource planner?

A

1 concurrent user license is issued for the free trial.

What is the duration of the free trial?

A

Free trial is valid for 14 days from the date of activation, after which the users cannot login to the application but the data remains intact.

Should we enter our real data (production data) during free trial of eRS resource management software?

A

Yes, we strongly suggest that you try our resource scheduling software in realistic environment and with your real data, so that you are satisfied that our software can fulfill your requirements. Also, if you end up upgrading to paid licensed version, then you can simply apply and activate the new license key on the same database and don't have to restore a fresh database and build your data all over again.

2. Complimentary Web Demo: We provide complimentary web demo to all our prospective & new clients. Web demo takes approx. 30 minutes and provides complete software overview. This offer is not valid to returning clients.
3. Web Based Training: If additional training sessions are required, then we can provide web based personal training sessions at a cost of USD 300 for 2 hours. We prefer 'Train the Trainer' model, so that our clients have an in-house product specialist for their ongoing configuration and administrative requirements.
4. Live Chat: Start a chat session with our experts to discuss queries or resolve issues during our business hours (Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm IST).

Does your resource scheduling software support user access rights?

A

Yes, system administrator can define different set of access rights for every user. Administrator can define the following...

  • Administrator can restrict user's access to resources on the basis of team, department, office, region, manager, resource type and also to specific named resources.
  • Administrator can define which screens every user has access to, and can even define user rights (view only / add / edit / delete) for every screen.
  • Administrator can also define timesheet entry / approval rights for every user.

When we run the setup on Vista or Windows 7, it warns about an unidentified program access, what is it and is it safe to continue the setup?

A

Windows Vista and progressive versions of windows contain enhanced security features, which warn you when any application attempts to install. Please select ‘Allow’ (or equivalent) to continue the software installation, its perfectly safe.

When we run the setup on Windows 7 it asks 'Do you want the program to make changes to your computer?', Why is this and what should we do?

Windows 7 contains enhanced security features, which warn you when any application attempts to install. Please select 'Yes' (or equivalent) to continue the software installation.

Do we necessarily need to run 'eResource Scheduler Setup' on our server machine to restore eResource Scheduler database ?

A

Easiest way to restore fresh eResource Scheduler database on your server machine is through 'eRS Installation Manger', but we also understand that some organizations are apprehensive about running setups / exe on their server machines. Hence, we also provide a backup (.bak) of eResource Scheduler database (request by sending a mail to ers@enbraun.com. Your database administrator can simply restore this backup on MS SQL Server on server machine. See tutorial Restore eResource Scheduler database.

To restore eResource Scheduler database on SQL server you need to know the following....

What is the default user Login ID and password to start eResource Scheduler?

A

Default user Login ID is 'admin' and default password is 'password'. Enter these when you see the eResource Scheduler login window.

I have installed MS SQL Server 2005 Express version using 'eResource Scheduler Setup', what is the default SQL Server login and password?

A

If you have installed MS SQL Server 2005 Express using our setup, then default administrative login is 'sa' and password is 'password#123'.

During installation there is a warning that says "This program has known compatibility issues", why is this and what should we do?

A

Windows vista and windows 7 have enhanced security and control features and thus they may show a compatibility warning (or warning that service pack 3 is required) when you install MS SQL Server 2005 Express using our setup (eRS Installation Manager). If this happens, then you should select 'Run Program' / 'Continue' (or equivalent) to continue the installation. It’s absolutely safe to install 'MS SQL Server 2005 Express' using our setup.

What should we do if we find a bug in eRS resource planning system?

A

eRS resource planning system is thoroughly tested (manually and using automatic test packs) before every release. Even then if you happen to find a bug, then kindly inform us immediately through the 'Contact Us' form on our website or write to us on ers@enbraun.com. Please send screenshots if possible.

Yes, eRS employee scheduling software can be customized (making changes to the code of the software and introducing new features as per client requirements). Customization process is as follows:
1. Existing clients submit customization request.
2. We carefully evaluate the customization request to determine if it is in line with our long term development plans and if customization will benefit our other clients.
3. Once the customization request is approved then we issue a quote for customization to the client.
4. Once the customization quote is approved by the client, we begin the customization work and deliver within the agreed time and cost
